CLEVELAND, July 28 — A bill sponsored by the BLET’s Missouri State Legislative Board will make off-duty vehicles safer when it becomes effective next month.
The bill (S.B. 772) allows crew vans that are stopped on the side of a public road to display a yellow flashing light when loading or unloading passengers. Currently in the state of Missouri, only emergency vehicles, school buses and mail carriers are allowed to display flashing yellow lights.
After passing both the Missouri House of Representative and the Missouri Senate, Missouri Governor Bob Holden signed the bill into law on June 25 with the effective date being August 28, 2004.
“A lot of hard work went into this bill and I want to thank all the BLET members that contacted their state representative or senator for support on this bill,” said Mickey Gage, Chairman of the BLET’s Missouri State Legislative Board.
