More than 1,500 Teamster Sisters attended dozens of workshops to empower workers and better advocate for their fellow members on the job during the Teamsters Women’s Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico, June 23-26. Topics included union bylaws, heat stress, internal organizing, effectively using social media, honing leadership skills, negotiating strategies, and much more.

Members of the BLET and BMWED were in attendance to represent the Rail Conference. Megan Mead, Director of the BLET National Division’s Record and Compliance Department, helped lead a seminar titled “Our Rail Teamster Sisters in Action.” Additional BLET attendees included Audra Smith, Legislative Representative of Division 94 (Gillette, Wyo.), and Darice Gilliam, Secretary-Treasurer of Division 383 (Fort Mohave, Ariz.). Sister Gilliam is also serves as Secretary-Treasurer of the BLET Arizona State Legislative Board.
