CLEVELAND, January 16 — BLET Division 724, in conjunction with SMART Local 979, are holding an online fundraiser for the family of a young locomotive engineer who died unexpectedly of a brain aneurysm on January 10, 2015. Division 724 asked the BLET National Division for help in spreading the word about this fundraiser.
Grant Stanley, 38, hired out in 2005 and worked out of Salem, Ill., for the Union Pacific Railroad. On January 10, Stanley passed away unexpectedly and left behind his wife, Brandi, and two young children, Zane and Ella. He had just recently earned promotion to locomotive engineer.
“He was a very stand up guy who took his profession seriously and excelled at it,” said Chaderick Black, Local Chairman of BLET Division 724 (Salem, Ill.). “He was in his prime and raising a family. This campaign is to raise funds for Brandi and the children for any needs that come along with a tragedy such as this.”
