CLEVELAND, March 8 — The National Division of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) has donated $1,000 to striking educators in Strongsville, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland.

Members of the Strongsville Education Association (SEA) have been without a contract since June of 2012, and after nine months of negotiations, went on strike beginning March 4.

The SEA represents nearly 385 employees, including teachers, guidance counselors and special education interventionists employed by the Strongsville School District. The School District has refused to negotiate in good faith, leading to the walk out.

“Since early 2011, all of organized labor has been under a withering assault that we call the War on Workers, and the only way to victory is our unity and our solidarity,” BLET National President Dennis R. Pierce said. “We are proud to help our fellow union Brothers and Sisters in the Strongsville Education Association.”
