Sara Nelson, International President of the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA/CWA), energized the BLET crowd during opening ceremonies of the union’s Eastern Regional Meeting in Washington D.C. on July 30. Like the BLET, the AFA is governed by the Railway Labor Act (RLA) for contract negotiations. She urged all RLA unions to build solidarity and work together in the future. “We have to think bigger and spread the word. You’ve got a lot of power in this room and we want to build power with you. We in the AFA have got your back. This is our country. Not a wheel would turn without us. We cannot allow the union busters to keep us apart. We have more in common than divide us.”
