BLET members today ratified a new contract with Metra that provides a 3.5 percent general wage increase. Members voted 60-1 in favor of ratification.
The agreement covers BLET members employed by Metra who operate on the Metra-UP Lines and are represented by the Union Pacific Northern Region (UP-NR) General Committee of Adjustment.
Under the new contract, wage increases will be applied no later than the second pay period following approval, with retroactive pay to July 1, 2025, issued within 30 days.
Metra is one of the largest commuter rail systems in the United States, serving the six-county Chicago area. It provides service to and from downtown Chicago with 243 stations over 11 routes.
