INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, June 30 — The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) has reached a tentative agreement with the Indiana Southern Railroad (ISRR). Ballots were mailed on June 25, 2020, to active members of the BLET employed by the ISRR who are eligible to vote in the ratification of this agreement.
Ballots are due by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Tuesday, July 21. The tentative agreement governs rates of pay, benefits and work rules for approximately 17 members, including the crafts of locomotive engineer and conductor.
The BLET’s ISRR membership belongs to Division 270 located in Washington, Ind., which is a part of the CP Rail-U.S. General Committee of Adjustment (GCA). Members who are eligible and have not received a ratification packet by July 3, 2020 should contact the office of General Chairman Pete Semenek for a replacement ballot.
“Participation in the contract ratification process is one of the most importation duties of union membership,” BLET National President Dennis R. Pierce said. “I encourage all of our Indiana Southern members to vote in the current ratification process.”
The BLET first organized the ISRR in September of 2002. A Genesee & Wyoming property, the ISRR operates 196 miles of track between Indianapolis and Evansville, Ind. It handles primarily coal and agricultural commodities.
