SEATTLE — The Seattle City Council unanimously passed a resolution on May 29 opposing the development of coal-export terminals in the state after raising concerns about increased train traffic and potential harm to health and the environment.

Mike Elliott, Chairman of the Washington State Legislative Board for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, testified against the resolution at the City Council Meeting. According to the Associated Press, Brother Elliott said: “We view this as an attack on our jobs.”
