INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, April 24 — BLET Vice President and National Legislative Representative John P. Tolman will deliver testimony regarding railroad safety regulations before a U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. The House’s Subcommittee of Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials will host the hearing at 10:00 a.m. (Eastern Time) on Wednesday, April 26. Titled “Building a 21st Century Infrastructure for America: The State of Railroad, Pipeline, and Hazardous Materials Safety Regulations and Opportunities for Reform,” the hearing will focus on railroad safety regulations, such as those implemented to mandate Positive Train Control after the fatal accident in Chatsworth, California, in 2008, regulations to improve the safety of transportation of crude oil by rail, private-public partnerships, rail regulations and several other transportation issues. The hearing will also focus on pipeline safety regulation and safety trends, and hazardous materials transportation safety regulations and safety trends.
In addition to Vice President Tolman, additional witnesses will include: Linda B. Darr, President, American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association; Roger Nober Executive Vice President, Law and Corporate Affairs BNSF Railway; Paul Rankin President, Reusable Industrial Packaging Association (on behalf of the Interested Parties for hazardous materials transportation; Robin Rorick, Group Director of Midstream and Industry Operations American Petroleum Institute; and Donald J. Santa Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer, Interstate Natural Gas Association of America.
