CLEVELAND, March 2 — The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen has reached a tentative on-property contract agreement with the Union Pacific Railroad. The tentative agreement follows two years of intense negotiations between the BLET General Committees and Union Pacific. The tentative contract governs rates of pay and work rules for approximately 7,000 locomotive engineers.
Ballots will be mailed in the coming days by TrueBallot, Inc., and will be counted in April. Pursuant to BLET’s Bylaws, the ballot packet will include a synopsis of the tentative agreement.
An additional news release will be issued when the ballots are mailed from the National Division offices. That news release will include instructions on how to request a ballot if you do not receive one in the mail as well as the time line for voting.
National President Dennis R. Pierce urges all eligible members to study the issues and cast their vote in this important ratification process.
