CLEVELAND, February 15 — The annual business meeting for the BLET’s Western General Chairman’s Association (WGCA) will take place May 1-3 at Bally’s in Las Vegas, announced its chairman, Dennis Pierce.
This meeting will be immediately preceded by the Teamsters’ Unity Conference, which will take place at Bally’s on April 29-30. The annual meeting of the BLET’s National Association of State Legislative Board Chairman will also take place at Bally’s from April 26-28.
“The annual meeting of Western General Chairmen has become a workshop for officers in recent years,” said WGCA Chairman Dennis Pierce. “While we each face unique issues on our individual committees, we are confronted with similar issues more and more often. The rail carriers are working hand-in-hand to challenge and undermine our work rules and agreements. The most effective way to defend our rules and agreements is general committees working together and fostering unity in that effort — which is the primary goal of our meeting.”
Pierce said that this year’s meeting will be the WGCA’s first year meeting along side the Teamster’s Unity Conference.
“As with the State Legislative Board Chairmen, we see benefits in coming together for one joint meeting with the officers of the BLET National Division and the Teamsters International,” Pierce said.
In addition to general committee officers, there will be a number of guests including officers from the National Division of the BLET, among them, National President Don Hahs who is expected to address the group.
