LOS ANGELES — Two train cars carrying hazardous liquid derailed into a local waterway south of Los Angeles early on Thursday, fire officials said.

One of the cars carrying an alcohol-based material had leaked but the leak had been contained, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

No injuries were reported.

The cars belonged to BNSF, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, the Fire Department spokesman said.

A total of five train cars derailed in a rail yard in La Mirada, California, about 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.
