ALLIANCE, Neb. — A coal train hit an unoccupied vehicle on the railroad track early this morning, the Sherman County sheriff’s office said.

The BNSF Railway train was eastbound near Litchfield, according to BNSF spokesman Steven Forsberg.

A Sherman County sheriff’s deputy said the occupant jumped from the vehicle before the train hit it, and that the vehicle was engulfed in flames upon impact.
