CALDWELL, Texas — No injuries have been reported in a derailment near Caldwell in which one train apparently struck another in a switching area.
The Burleson County Sheriff’s office says the collision happened around 1 a.m. Monday.
Dispatcher Kendra Greiffenstein told The Associated Press that four cars and one engine derailed in a rural area about one mile north of Caldwell.
She says the accident involves Burlington Northern Santa Fe trains in an area “like a switching yard.”
Fort Worth-based BNSF did not return a call early Monday from AP for comment.
Caldwell is about 65 miles northeast of Austin.
