WATERTOWN, Wisc. — A BNSF train with 112 cars derailed at 8:45 a.m. about two miles north of Alma, Wis., which is situated along the Mississippi River. Twenty-five cars — both cargo and tankers — actually left the tracks. Some cars were carrying empty auto racks, but the tanker cars carried denatured alcohol, which leaked from five of the tankers, according to law enforcement agencies. BNSF Railway estimated that one tanker spilled 18,000 gallons, with the four other tankers spilling a combined 500 gallons.
