HOUSTON — Environmental crews are working to clean up thousands of gallons of oil after a train derailed in northwest Harris County Monday night.
Deputies said the train was pulling into a rail yard on Fallbrook near Bunkerwood when it crashed into a parked train at about 10 p.m.
The crash knocked four cars off the tracks, including a train engine and a tanker, which was carrying 4,500 gallons of lube oil that began leaking into the ground.
No injuries were reported and officials said the oil is not harmful to humans.
Investigators believe officials with the Santa Fe Rail Company switched the rails.
Officials have not said if the spill poses any environmental threats.
