FERRYVILLE, Wisc. — Firefighters put out a fire onboard a railroad engine near Ferryville tonight. The fire was called in by the crew of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad engine shortly after 5 p.m. south of Ferryville. The crew was able to unhook the cars and move a safe distance from them to prevent further damage since the engine carried several thousand gallons of fuel. After the fire was extinquished, the train continued its trip to La Crosse. No word from firefighters or the railroad as to what caused the fire.
