BARSTOW, Calif. — BNSF Railway Company filed a complaint brief against Calico Solar — a 663.5 megawatt project which will be located 17 miles east of Newberry Springs — Wednesday, stating that the California Energy Commission does not have jurisdiction over the project and asking that it withdraw its decision on the project.
A spokeswoman for BNSF said the railroad was concerned about the glint and glare from the solar project — which will have railroad tracks used by both Amtrak and freight trains running through it.
