SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. — Officials with BNSF Railway are looking into whether there’s any connection between last week’s two train derailments near Sauk Rapids.

The derailments happened two days apart.

BNSF spokesman Steve Forsberg says — in both cases — the railroad has found broken wheels, but is still looking to see if there are other possible similarities.

Twenty-nine coal cars jumped the tracks in the second derailment, which happened last Friday. No one was hurt in either accident.
