KANSAS CITY — A coalition has been formed in response to concerns in Parkville regarding a second train track.

U.S. Rep. Sam Graves announced the formation of a coalition of various Platte County and Parkville leaders — including Mayor Kathy Dusenbery and Platte County Presiding Commissioner Betty Knight — to work with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe. The coalition’s main goal is to find a solution regarding the second track with all parties, including the railroad, said Jason Klindt, communications director for Graves.

Parkville initially became concerned when Platte County officials alerted them to the possibility of a second track being built parallel to the current track, which runs through the city.

The coalition plans to meet throughout the year.
