FORT WORTH, Texas — The BNSF Railway Co. said Monday it’s raising the diesel price at which it adds a surcharge to $2.50 per gallon for highway diesel fuel, up from $1.25 per gallon.
BNSF said the increase applies to mileage-based and percent-of-revenue fuel surcharges for shippers of agricultural products, coal, industrial products and cars.
The increase starts at the beginning of January. Intermodal shipments, which involve goods transferred between trains and trucks, will not be affected.
