CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Like its other Class I counterparts, the COVID-19 pandemic hit BNSF’s bottom line in the second quarter, with revenue falling 22% amid an 18% drop in rail volumes. BNSF’s second-quarter net earnings were $1.13 billion, compared with $1.34 billion in the second quarter of 2019. Of that, revenues totaled $4.6 billion, compared with nearly $5.9 billion for the same period in 2019.
