KINGMAN, Ariz. — It certainly wasn’t the “Great Train Robbery,” but it could have ended up much worse.
The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway is seeking information about someone shooting at a train on Saturday.
A group of four to five people were seen by railroad employees below a rail bridge west of Kingman.
One of the group members pointed what appeared to be a gun at a train traveling from Los Angeles to Texas and fired.
The train was later forced to stop when an air brake hose on a freight car failed.
Bullet holes were found in the brake hose.
“People don’t realize there are engineers in those trains,” said Lena Kent, BNSF director of public affairs for Arizona, California, Utah and Nevada.
A white, 1966 or later Ford pickup truck and a green, late ’80s Chevy Astro van were seen in the vicinity of the shooters.
Anyone with information should call BNSF Special Agent J.D. Burns at (928) 660-8144.
