CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Second-quarter revenue for BNSF, a unit of Berkshire Hathaway (BRK), rose 0.3 percent despite lower volumes for agricultural products, consumer products and industrial products, the railroad’s parent company said on August 3. BRK said BNSF’s second-quarter revenues totaled $5.9 billion, a 0.3 percent increase from the second quarter of 2018, while operating expenses fell 2.9 percent to $3.9 billion. Net profit was $1.34 billion in the second quarter, up 2.3 percent from $1.31 billion for the same period last year.
