NEOSHO RAPIDS, Kan. — Officials say there is no major health risk from a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train derailment today in Lyon County.

The last 13 cars of a 90-car train derailed at about 11:45 a.m. near Neosho Rapids as the train was en route to Galesburg, Ill. There were no injuries.

Steve Forsberg, spokesman for BNSF, said he had no estimate on when the track would be reopened, nor was it known what caused the derailment.

Lyon County Sheriff Office deputies are working to detach parts of the train to open blocked roads.
