PAGE, N.D. — Trains are running again at the site where more than 30 freight cars derailed over the weekend in eastern North Dakota, but BNSF says cleanup of the debris could take about a month.
“The secondary track was open at 1:30 a.m., and traffic was on the move throughout the night,” BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas said Tuesday. The adjacent main line was reopened about eight hours later, he said.
“Both lines are open,” Melonas said late Tuesday morning. “We are still investigating the cause, but traffic is moving.”
Officials said 37 cars and two locomotives derailed near Page on Sunday afternoon.
No one was hurt. The train was headed from Minneapolis to Minot.
