BALTIMORE — Maryland’s U.S. senators announced Thursday a $500,000 grant to the B&O Railroad Museum to help recover after the collapse of the roundhouse roof under 2 feet of snow in February.

In a statement, Sen. Paul Sarbanes, D-Maryland, said he’s happy the park service saw the importance of the museum. Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Maryland, added that the money will help preserve America’s railroading history.

The senators noted that a request for another $500,000 to support museum operations and enhancements needed to reopen the museum, is working its way through Congress.
