JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Investigators are trying to identify the remains of a person found at the CSX rail yard by an employee Sunday evening, according to WJXT News4Jax.com.
Police said they were called to the facility off North McDuff Avenue in Northwest Jacksonville around 6 p.m. after the body was discovered.
Police told Channel 4 it appears the body had been there for quite some time.
“One of the CSX workers … found a decomposed body in the ditch — a body there in a state of advanced decomposition,” Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jim Parker said.
As well as the identity, investigators will try determine the cause of death.
