MONTREAL — Bombardier Inc. said on Thursday it had obtained a design contract from Britain’s Railtrack worth C$18.7 million ($11.8 million) to resignal a line in the East Midlands area, reports Reuters.
The work will start this month and should be completed by the end of 2004, the Canadian transportation giant said in a statement from Derby, England.
Some upgrade work on the line could increase the order’s value to C$62 million, it added.
The design contract project is part of Railtrack’s overall plans to renew signaling across the East Midlands over the next 10 years. ($1=$1.58 Canadian)
