MONTREAL — Bombardier Transportation has received an additional order for 14 high-capacity regional trains for the French National Railways, a contract valued at about $71 million Cdn.
The three-car trains are scheduled to be delivered between January 2006 and December 2007, the Bombardier Inc. unit announced Monday. Bombardier (TSX:BBD.B) will build the trains at its plant in Crespin, France. It is a follow-on order to a contract awarded to Bombardier in December 2001 for the supply of up to 500 of the regional trains, bringing to 279 the number of regional trains ordered to date by the French rail system.
The trains can operate on either diesel or electricity and travel at a maximum speed of 160 km/h.
