MONTREAL — Bombardier Transportation will receive $68 million for its share of a deal to provide 42 new and retrofitted three-car trainsets to be used in Germany.

The rail subsidiary of the Montreal manufacturer said it has signed the deal, along with partner Alstom LHB, for the supply contract with S-Bahn Hamburg GmbH. The total deal is valued at $136 million.

The trainsets are scheduled to be delivered between March 2006 to August 2007. Passenger service is scheduled to start in December 2007 between Hamburg and Stade.

Also Wednesday, parent company Bombardier Inc. announced that Horizon Air of Seattle has downgraded its order of two Bombardier regional jets to two turboprops.

Bombardier (TSX: BBD.B) said Horizon Air has ordered two additional 70-seat Bombardier Q400 turboprop airliners, which will increase its fleet to 17, of which 15 have been delivered.

The transaction represents the conversion of two firm orders for 70-seat Bombardier CRJ700 regional jets.

Horizon Air now retains firm orders for 28 CRJ700s, of which 16 have been delivered. It retains options on an additional 25 CRJ700s and on 15 Q400 turboprops.
