MONTREAL — Bombardier Transportation has won a $633-million order from German railway Deutsche Bahn AG for 298 additional double-deck passenger rail cars.

Bombardier said Sunday the contract includes an option for 300 further vehicles. The cars are scheduled for delivery between 2004 and 2006 and will be built at the company’s plant in Gorlitz, Germany.

The latest order brings to more than 1,300 the number of double-deck trains ordered by Deutsche Bahn for passenger rail service across Germany. Bombardier-built double-deck cars are also in service in Israel and Denmark and will shortly start operation in Luxembourg.
