FRESNO, Calif. — A Burlington Northern Santa Fe employee was killed when he was run over by a boxcar early Wednesday at the company’s Calwa Yard at 3901 E. Vine Ave., Fresno police reported.
Leana Kent, a company spokeswoman, identified the victim as Todd Mohler, 35, of Fresno, a freight train conductor who joined BNSF in June 2001.
Kent, in a telephone interview from her office in San Bernardino, said Mohler is survived by his wife and three children.
Fresno police said officers were dispatched to the yard at 1:23 a.m., when the department received a 911 call.
Kent said company investigators, along with investigators from the Federal Railroad Administration, have been summoned to look into the incident.
Kent said Mohler and two other employees reportedly were using a locomotive to build and dismantle trains.
