WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Mediation Board (NMB) is pleased to announce the selection of Terri Brown as Senior Mediator; she assumed the duties of Senior Mediator on June 6, 2010.

The National Mediation Board is an independent Federal agency established by the Railway Labor Act, which governs labor-management relations within two key transportation sectors of the United States and U.S. territories: the railroads and airlines.

As a Senior Mediator, Ms. Brown supervises a team of mediators engaged in resolving contract disputes in the air and rail industries. She joined the National Mediation Board in 2002 as a Mediator and has worked successfully on cases involving both railroads and airlines.

Prior to joining the NMB, Mediator Brown held several positions at the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak). These positions included Manager of Dispute Resolution, Amtrak’s Employee Relations Manager and Ombudsman for the CEO. Also at Amtrak, she served as Labor Contract Administrator and Labor Relations Officer. As Labor Relations Officer, she was involved in various negotiations and handled numerous arbitration cases.

Senior Mediator Brown has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore, a J.D. from the Howard University School of Law, and a BA degree in English from Chatham University in Pittsburgh. She is a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution and has extensive training in arbitration, negotiation, mediation, ADR, and investigation.
