PITTSBURGH — One firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and another minor injuries while trying to put out a brush fire that engulfed a railroad trestle in Chicora yesterday afternoon.
A dozen fire departments responded to the fire, which started around 1 p.m., 15 minutes after a train crossed over the Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad Inc. trestle. The brush quickly ignited the trestle.
Firefighters said the fire may have started by a spark from an axle on the passing train.
The state fire marshal’s office is investigating.
