REVELSTOKE, B.C. — A Calgary-based CP Rail manager could face up to six months in prison and be charged $50,000 in fines after being found guilty of violating the Railway Safety Act. On July 16 CP Rail manager Tim McClelland was found guilty of contravening an emergency directive made by Canada’s Transport minister in the aftermath of the Lac Megantic disaster. The directive required all rail companies to ensure handbrakes were properly applied to locomotives left unattended for more than an hour.
