SAN JOSE, Calif. — A draft report Caltrain expects to release today acknowledges that its long-planned rail electrification project will require installation of 30-foot-high poles with overhead wires and possible removal of more than 2,000 trees. But the benefits of a modernized train system will outweigh any negatives, a spokeswoman for Caltrain said.
