KINGSPORT, Tenn. — Some people take a walk on railroad tracks out of necessity or for a thrill, but federal statistics show this is the deadliest activity on record throughout the U.S. railway system.

Two Hawkins County youths are fortunate to have survived an encounter with a Norfolk Southern train Friday when they had to lie flat in the middle of the track system in order to avoid the cars passing overhead after being caught on a trestle near Church Hill.
