SLINGER, Wisc. — Cleanup crews at the scene of Sunday’s two-train collision and derailment in Slinger will finish vacuuming up spilled diesel fuel Tuesday and shift to excavating contaminated soil the remainder of this week, a state environmental official said Tuesday. The Canadian National Railway Co. estimates 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel spilled from the lead locomotive of a southbound train that collided Sunday evening with several freight cars at the end of a northbound Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Co. train.
