HALIFAX — Canadian National is appealing last month’s court decision that awarded survivor’s pension benefits to a Nova Scotia woman nine years after the death of the man with whom she lived, the Globe and Mail reports.

The Nova Scotia Supreme Court ordered the CN pension plan to pay Vona Smith of New Glasgow $426 a month.

CN alleges the judge erred in fact and law in the ruling because Ms. Smith wasn’t eligible for a survivor’s pension.
