PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — The federal Transportation Safety Board has issued two recommendations in the wake of a fiery train derailment that killed two people east of Prince George last spring.
The board says investigators uncovered a number of problems with CN Rail’s inspection and maintenance and Transport Canada’s compliance reviews.
The board recommends CN verify the condition of their timber bridges and ensure their safety with effective inspection and maintenance.
The other recommendation was for Transport Canada to compare railway procedures and practices with inspection and maintenance records in its compliance reviews.
Art McKay and Ken LeQuesne, both 51, were killed when a CN freight train plunged into a ravine and caught fire.
