(CN issued the following news release on January 7.)
MONTREAL — James M. Foote, CN’s executive vice-president, sales and marketing, today announced the appointment of Paul D. Waite as CN vice-president of IMX.
In his new role, Waite leads IMX (Intermodal Excellence), an initiative launched by CN last year to improve the quality and efficiency of its intermodal services. IMX applies CN’s highly successful scheduled railroading practices – first introduced in the company’s carload business – to intermodal, the transport of containers and truck trailers by rail. By providing pre-defined daily train capacity, slot, gate and equipment reservations, and day-of-week pricing, IMX has smoothed intermodal demand, made terminals more fluid and delivered a better product to the marketplace.
Waite has been leading the development and implementation of IMX since June 2003. Prior to his new appointment, Waite was assistant vice-president, domestic, a position in which he was responsible for all sales and marketing activities for domestic intermodal in North America.
During his 30 years at CN, Waite has held numerous positions in sales, marketing and business development. Waite graduated from York University in Toronto with a degree in business administration.
CN also announced the retirement of William K. Berry, CN’s vice-president of intermodal.
