EDMONTON, Alberta — Two Canadian National Railway Co. (CNR) cars remain on fire after the derailment yesterday of a train carrying crude and liquefied petroleum gas west of Edmonton.
One of three cars carrying propane that caught fire has burned out, Jacquie Ostashek, a spokeswoman for Parkland County, Alberta’s most populated rural municipality, said today in a phone interview. Residents who evacuated from the rural hamlet of Gainford early yesterday morning won’t be able to return for another 24 to 48 hours, she said.
