MONTREAL — The United Steelworkers union said on Tuesday it reached a tentative labor agreement with Canadian National Railway that would apply to 3,200 track maintenance workers at Canada’s biggest railroad.
The union said issues at the bargaining table included wages, meal allowances, pensions, travel and work-life balance. A mail-back ballot will be sent to members across Canada in the coming days.
“This is a historic agreement with the railway,” said John Dinnery, president of USW Local 2004. “Our bargaining committee is unanimous in its recommendation that it be accepted.”
The current contract with CN Rail expires Dec. 31. The union did not offer details on the tentative contract.
