MONTREAL — Canadian National Railway has reached a tentative deal on a new contract with the union representing about 200 Canada-based train dispatchers.

Canada’s biggest railway said Friday it remains in negotiations with five other unions in Canada whose contracts also expired at the end of last year. Those unions represent about 8,300 employees. Details of the new three-year contract for dispatchers are being withheld pending ratification by members of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference/Rail Canada Traffic Controllers in Montreal, Toronto and Edmonton.

On the Toronto stock market at midday Friday, Canadian National Railway shares (TSX:CNR) fell 48 cents to $51.25.
