TORONTO — A Canadian National Railway Co. freight train derailed west of Toronto early this morning, interrupting commuter service during rush hour, the Canadian Press reported.

About 150 freight cars left the tracks about 2 a.m., blocking lines used by GO Transit and Via Rail Canada Inc., the news agency said today.

GO Transit canceled its trains on the Georgetown line, with the exception of two from Bramalea and Mount Pleasant. Via said service between Toronto and Sarnia, Ontario, was interrupted and it was finding alternatives for passengers to and from Stratford, Kitchener and Guelph, CP said.
