NEW YORK — The flooding Missouri River is cutting off rail lines, yards and shippers for several major North American carriers, and the range of outages will expand in the next week.

Canadian National Railway said it “currently has no access to our yards at Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Omaha, Neb.,” and “we are unable to service local customers until clearance is provided by the authorities.”

UP, which is based in Omaha and has extensive tracks along the lower Missouri River from that city to St. Louis, said it expects to lose access to St. Joseph, Mo., early next week.
