PHILADELPHIA — Many Amtrak and commuter trains were stopped Wednesday night when a commuter train snapped an electric line, cutting off power to the trains, transit officials said.
A commuter train operated by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority broke the power line, cutting off power to the electric trains run by Amtrak and New Jersey Transit.
Amtrak’s problems continued late Wednesday night, with the railroad offering limited service. New Jersey Transit said its trains were back to normal by late Wednesday.
SEPTA does not run commuter trains overnight, but officials said it hoped to have things back to normal by Thursday morning’s commute.
