NEWARK, N.J. — About 200 PATH train commuters traveling from Hoboken to Manhattan were delayed for about 30 minutes at the end of last night’s rush hour when a set of wheels from one railroad car went off the tracks, officials said.

No cars tipped over and no one was injured when the malfunction occurred just outside the Hoboken station at about 7 p.m., said Port Authority spokesman Marc Lavorgna. There were about seven cars in the disabled train.

Riders were taken back to the Hoboken station aboard another train.

Service between Hoboken and 33rd Street in Manhattan was suspended in both directions, and those wishing to travel to Manhattan were asked to take the PATH train to the World Trade Center station.

The cause of the malfunction remained under investigation.
