CLEVELAND, July 20 — The father of U.S. Congressman Jack Quinn (R-NY) passed away on July 17.
John F. “Jack” Qunn Sr. was a retired locomotive engineer for the South Buffalo Railway who passed along an appreciation of the industry to his son. Rep. Quinn is the Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Railroads.
Quinn Sr., of Blasdell, N.Y., is survived by his wife Norma; sons Jack (Mary Beth), Kevin (Karen), Jeffrey (Rita), Thomas (Peggy) and Michael (Nancy) Quinn; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
As Chairman of the Railroads Subcommittee, Rep. Quinn has fought hard to preserve Amtrak as part of America’s infrastructure. His commitment to Amtrak and passenger rail has earned him the “Golden Spike Award” from the National Association of Railroad Passengers. Safety on railways is another key issue for Rep. Quinn. In recognition of this, Operation Lifesaver presented him with their “Congressional Appreciation Award.”
Rep. Quinn worked tirelessly to ensure that the Railroad Retirement Survivors Improvement Act got the attention it deserved.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow morning at 9:30 at Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, South Park Ave., Blasdell, N.Y. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend.
